Trump just signed Right to Try bill. Essentially all drugs are now legal as long as you have some sort of incurable thing... Baldness, fatness, flatulence
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:43 |

Disappointed this law does not apply to buffets.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:44 |

Is this the right bill for the people, not the drug companies?
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:46 |
|
So it removes culpability from the drug companies if they kill you with a new or old wonder drug?
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:48 |

I haven’t read the text of the bill, but I’m all for the “I’m dying anyway, FILL ME FULL OF SCIENCE!” option. Keyword there: option.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:48 |

I don’t know about all that, but you can certainly try and cure yourself with unapproved medicine. Crack, coke, aspirin... whatever.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:49 |

do you have incurable hunger? You can now try all you can eat buffet to cure your incurable hunger problem.

We are not responsible for any food poisoning or diarrhea that may result from eating strange/weird food from your local Chinese buffet.

We’re all dying. that’s one of the big certainties in life. I think it’s the most certain thing given to us at birth. Congratulations. You’re gonna die. Not sure when... but you will.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:52 |

Good. The idea of withholding a potential cure to a terminally ill patient on the grounds that “it may kill you” is stupid.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:52 |
|
I think they are not responsible either way. Suddenly don’t speak your language. You want fried rice?
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:53 |

I’m dying of a severe allergic reaction to our president. Only cure I can think of is to impeach him...
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:54 |
|
I’m surprised I agree with him on this. Why shouldn’t you have the option of sticking whatever you want in your body? If Xanifutilo has a chance of curing insufferableness, why not? As long as the complications and side effects are explained. Let adults make their own decisions.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:54 |

The way I am reading this... jokingly... is that all drugs are now legalized. As long as you have some incurable disease.... something like ... you know... life. If you have that, you are definitely gonna die so try all the drugs you want
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:56 |

is stupidity curable?...........asking for a friend..........
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:56 |
|
Both, really, but mostly for the people. It’s a sliver of hope to someone who would definitely die otherwise. At best, it works. At worst, and while sounding a little cold this is absolutely true, it’s valuable real-world information for the drug company that may help the next person.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:57 |

That drug is not yet available. Have you tried coke?
![]() 05/30/2018 at 12:57 |

Nah man I watched a video about dandelions and if I eat them everyday I’m going to live forever because of their powerful antioxidants. /s

Well, if they want to kill themselves faster that’s not my issue. Key point, you don’t get those through the FDA anyways, so...

Star for “fill me full of science”

The Right to Try movement is trying to help terminally ill patients obtain drugs currently in clinical trials .
Doesn’t mean you can try treating pancreatic cancer with black tar heroin.
Has its ups and downs. Probably mostly good for pharma companies.

Someone needs to add black tar heroin into current clinical trials and then bam... you can

make cocacola cocaine again!

Mildly tangential, I see a commercial at least once or twice a day from a large law firm trying to build a class-action suit against a pharma company for cancer survivors that permanently lost hair after taking a specific chemotherapy drug.
I’m thinking, cancer is a disgusting shitshow that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. Sure, losing your hair is a bummer, but you survived a serious and life-ending form of cancer. Shouldn’t the fact that the drug saved your life be at least a little more important than your flowing mane? If I had a disease that only 25 or so years ago would have been a sure-fire way to a miserable and painful death within a year, and could be cured by agreeing to shave my entire body for the rest of my life...guess what I would choose.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:08 |
|
they gonna be so glad that they can now access all them drugs....... now they can dull the pain of that terminal stupidity........
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:09 |
|
Probably the opposite, actually. More for drug development.
At best it works and saves a life. Chances are it does nothing and may increase suffering due to adverse drug reactions- but at least the pharma company gets data.
Off-label/unapproved use can lead to some interesting finds but I’d contend it’s a bit rare.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:12 |

Bayer might own the trademark for pharma heroin already...
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:20 |
|
As long as the complications and side effects are explained.
They aren’t, and that’s kind of the point of the bill. Nobody knows if taking chemo drugs with an experimental NSAID will make you angrily shit blood. This bill makes the gamble your choice.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:21 |
|
I lost most my head hair naturally. Now it’s just a nuisance going to a barber and having it all shaved every once in a while. (yes, I know I can half ass it myself)
I completely agree with you, but some people - ones with comb-overs love their hair and refuse to admit they have none. Those are probably the ones suing.
Personally, I can care less if I have hair or don’t have hair.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:21 |

this is amazing news! this opens a whole range of research and clinical trials. damn, trump did a good thing?
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:23 |

Regardless, death vs maybe not death. Plus who knows what the long term benefits of the data might end up being. Either way, it’s a good policy.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:26 |
|
It’s idiotic. Hair loss has been a known side effect of chemo for a long time.
How much do you want to bet the case started when someone noticed that wasn’t specifically labeled as a side effect? This is why we have idiot labels on everything now...
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:27 |

I promised not to make it political. In my opinion he has done many good things... but we are all entitled to our opinions.

It gives terminally ill people the right to request access to drugs that are earlier in the approval process. 38 states have similar laws already. This makes it national.
But it doesn’t guarantee the pharma companies will let those folks into the trials, if they exist at all. It also doesn’t make it any cheaper for the patient.
But it sure sounds nice to say “WE’RE GIVING TERMINALLY ILL PEOPLE ACCESS TO POTENTIALLY LIFE SAVING MEDICATIONS!”
A more accurate description is one hurdle in the way of such access is being removed, but there’s not some medical “right” that’s been created.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:33 |
|
It means that there is one less regulatory hurdle in the way of terminal patients accessing treatments in earlier stages of the FDA approval process. But the pharma companies still have to be conducting a trial and be willing to let that particular patient into that particular trial. Drug companies are cautious about this stuff for liability and other reasons. It’s not a free for all.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:45 |
|
Similar laws were already on the books in 38 states.
Pharma companies are reluctant to offer drugs at early arrival stages to terminally ill patients, regardless of the regulations preventing them from doing so, or not.
It sounds nice but not much will change.

Believing Trump to have done many good things is the sign of a delusional mind.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:52 |

Yeah, but the patient can’t hold the maker responsible if he doesn’t take it properly.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 13:56 |

like i said. you’re entitled to your opinion.
![]() 05/30/2018 at 14:07 |

Oh I’m aware. How ever changing from state law to federal can ease a bit of hesitancy. As state laws could prove to not allow as much protection in the event of something going wrong. Where as if the laws are on a federal level you have a bit more protection in the event of a law suite that could reach a federal court.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’m all for that. Even an explanation saying we don’t know is good for me. I probably should have stated that in my original post. If you want to take the chance of curing yourself while possibly shitting yourself to death, that’s up to you.
As long as the side effects and data is collected, bring on the lab rats test subjects!
![]() 05/30/2018 at 15:00 |
|
Yep, I feel the same way. I just wanted to make it clear that the risks are unknown. The pharma companies can’t disclose what they don’t know- that’s the R in R&D.

WOOOOO MEDICAL CRYSTAL METH FOR EVERYBODY!!!!!!
